North Bastion is a systems engineering company focused on the design and improvement of processes where information and communication technologies play an important role.

We have more than 5 years of experience in the design, deployment, management and maintenance of infrastructure and software, especially in critical environments. As an engineering company, we approach processes from an integral point of view, taking into account economic, socio-organisational and knowledge-management factors. Above all, we believe that technical understanding must have a central role in the study of technological processes.

We try to remain close to the state of the art in the operational fields of information systems and communications, without falling victim to fashions or marketing noise. We believe that important technological concepts have a stable value that lasts for many years, and that mastering those concepts is essential in order to choose wisely in this field.

Our compass is simplicity, a concept that is unfortunately rarely defined with precision. We understand the path towards simplicity as the effort to maintain or improve performance while reducing the entropy of systems: the number of "levers" and possible states they can be in. We believe that reducing the state space correlates well with reducing the problem space.

This is why we do not fear low-level work: getting close to the hardware and the underlying mechanisms of a system, while working only with the abstractions we actually need and that add real value.

We live in a world flooded every day by new trends that supposedly will revolutionise everything, yet in practice they are not improving the operational performance of most ICT systems. In this context, we believe that a philosophy oriented towards simplicity is the most suitable way to create and maintain robust systems designed to last.

Our objective is to obtain results and control over the system. The first brings immediate value; the second is required to preserve that value in the medium and long term.
